Do different types of the same food: still use the 4 day rule fore solid?

Like, my son has had butternut squash. I’m making him an acorn squash now. Does the acorn squash count as a different food and I still need to have him try it for 4 days or are all winter squash considered the same food?
I know that two different types of pear or apple would be considered the same but each squash is so different thats why I ask.

I wish I had an answer for you, but I am curious too. Good question.

The whole “wait 4 days” thing is pretty much garbage. If your family hasnt a history of allergies, theres no need to worry. Really…do you know anyone who is allergic to squash??

When I dealt with this I just decided that all squashes and pumpkin counted as one thing. I didn’t have any issues. Who’s allergic to squash anyway?
